The 1955 final was played in front of a capacity 100,000 crowd. Hendon started well but the initiative swings to Bishop Auckland when a defensive error allows Derek Lewin the oportunity to lob Hendon goalkeeper Reg Ivey for the first goal. Hendon captain Dexter Adams makes a dispairing effort to clear the ball but can only help it into the roof of the net.

Derek Lewin pounces again after another defensive mix up to score the second goal and wrap the game up for Bishop Auckland.

In the 1966 final Hendon goalkeeper John Swannell dives at the feet of Wealdstone's two goal hero Bobby Childs, while Hendon centre half Geoff Riddy looks on. Bobby Childs joined Hendon in 1971 and although his hairstyle had changed his talent remained. Along with John Swannell he won a second Amateur Cup winners medal in 1972.
